Patio Doors.  What are my options?

At Made in The Shade Blinds of Pittsburgh we understand that many homes have Patio Doors.  Whether they are sliding doors or French Doors they both have large glass areas and covering these can be a challenge.

In the Pittsburgh area many people choose Vertical Blinds for their Patio Doors without considering other options.  While Vertical Blinds are very nice and practical they are only one choice.

The advantages of Vertical Blinds is that they can be tilted open or closed to allow some light in while maintaining privacy, or they can be completely opened or closed.  They are easy to clean and can be made of Vinyl, Fabric, or Wood.

On French Doors one great option is Plantation Shutters.  These can be mounted directly to the door and the louvers can be tilted open for light and the Shutter doors can be opened for glass cleaning. Roman and Roller Shades are also available to be mounted directly to the door.

Cellular Shades are also available in a Vertical fashion.  An advantage of these Vertical Cellular Shades is that when opened the fabric will compress into a very small stack.  This works well when the door is very close to a wall and the customer wants as much view as possible when the Window Treatment is open.

One Window Treatment that is just beginning to become popular in the Pittsburgh region is Sliding Panels.  These consist of 3, 4, or 5 panels that are attached to a head rail and slide open one in front of the other.  An advantage of Sliding Panels is that other Window Treatments in the room can be made of a matching material that will coordinate well with this Treatment.
