Specialty Shaped Windows.  What are my options?

Does your home have Specialty Shaped windows?  These are windows that do not fall in the standard rectangle or square variety.  They can be circle, half-circle, quarter-circle, arch, octagon, angled, etc..

A lot of older homes in the Pittsburgh area have these types of windows but almost every new home we see has some type of specialty shaped window.

A Plantation Shutter is a good choice to begin with.  Depending on the shape of the window these Shutters may have opening and closing doors.  There are times when the doors must be stationary but the louvers will open.  We offer a large variety of colors and stains to match the trim in your home.

Cellular Shades, also known as Honeycomb shades,  are also a good consideration.  These tend to be permanent and can not be opened but they will complement the window.

Even other Shades and Blinds can be made into specialty shapes.  Not all products will work with  all windows but we can determine the best product for your application.

We recently visited a customer in Shadyside who was convinced that there was nothing that could be done with the large arched window in her den.  She believed this because the home was built over eighty years ago and that nothing would ever fit it.   We were consulting her on Window Treatments for her new French Door when she mentioned this window.  We first showed her options on our IPad and then actual fabrics and colors.  We were able to choose a Pleated Shade fabric and color that complimented her décor and solved her glare issue.
